First aid for P&G Personal Health Care

We are looking forward to welcoming you to the upcoming ensa Mental Health First Aid Introduction seminar

Mental Health First Aiders are empowered to step into situations where they notice signs of poor mental health. They are encouraged to break down barriers, to listen in a non-judgmental way, and signpost people to support for recovery.

We want to transform how workplaces of all shapes and sizes think about mental well-being.

Adults spend at least a third of their time at work, so we want to create a significant impact in the workplace by driving a culture of wellbeing at work and beyond, as this impact ripples out to our friends and family and everyone we have contact with. We hope that this will change the health of the nation and save lives.

What is the scope of the course?

The online ensa Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) adult course is a 12-hour programme.

What will I learn?

The online ensa MHFA adult course covers a wide range of important topics including depression, anxiety and stress, burn-out and substance use disorders.

The full course content can be found here

How will I learn?

The online course is delivered by one of our qualified instructors using presentation slides, videos, interactive exercises, case-studies and role plays where all participants get an opportunity to practice offering mental health first aid.
Particular attention is given to developing non-judgmental listening skills, focusing on verbal and non-verbal communication, and showing care and compassion.

Each participant receives a course manual, and once they have completed a post-course online test will receive a certificate and be registered as a Mental Health First Aider. The certificate is valid for three years.

Introduction seminar

The introduction seminar will offer an interactive and open discussion on the important topic of mental health and wellbeing, and the issues we are facing in this current pandemic. We will consider the mental health continuum and what defines mental illness and the stigma that still surrounds it. We will look at the symptoms and signs of stress and anxiety; how to take care of ourselves, manage our stress and anxiety and offer tools appropriate to social distancing and isolation.

We will introduce the ensa Mental Health First Aid course, it's goals, the role of a first aider and what the course covers.
Finally, we will look at how to offer Mental Heath First Aid using the 5 steps of ROGER so that you are equipped with this important tool.
